Ongoing ideas for happiness, creativity, and connection!

Creative & Edible Projects

  1. Build a planter and raise edible plants (potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, mint)
  2. Cook something vegetarian (make an interesting fruit smoothie, parfait, or platter of food—decorate a board in a creative way)
  3. Bake something difficult from scratch (e.g., sourdough), decorate a cake, cupcakes, or cookies in a creative way

Movement & Mindfulness

  1. Do pushups and squats, yoga poses (sit still and breathe for ten minutes—think of what to do… try twenty minutes… try an hour!)

Music & Connection

  1. Sing karaoke alongside music(on your phone, YouTube videos with lyrics, or a karaoke machine—pick favorite songs, learn to sing them without music or the real singer)
  2. Phone a friend (have a purpose—chat about today, yesterday, or tomorrow; what went well, what didn’t, what can improve)

Outdoor & Social

  1. Attend a local high school sports game (Baseball, Basketball, Football)
  2. Ride a bike to the park and play catch (just catch, throw, and chat with a friend)
  3. Build a kite and fly it up on a hill (use lots of string—100 meters or more!)

Reflection & Learning

  1. Write in a journal, take pictures (save the pictures in a journal)
  2. Learn new things (language, instruments, engineering)
  3. Read fairy tales, mythology, and sci-fi
  4. Talk to extended family, go to church
